My name is Briana Hollins and I am a sophomore at Indiana University studying Geo-Informatics with a minor in computer science. As a first generation to attend college I am pushing the boundaries to motivate the future generations. I am a persistent, hard-worker who looks for a challenge.

Prohealth Summer REU
INTENSIVE SUMMER RESEARCH

Selected to participate in the Prohealth Summer Research for Undergrads. I was able to choose a project under Katie Siek and a graduate student. A very intense 10 weeks to conduct research in our given project. Along with many new skills we also complete a paper, poster, social media, video, weekly blogs.

Worked along side renowned IU professors Kay Connelly and Katie Siek for HomeShare research. I transcribed and completed various tasks using Dedoose and PowerPoint.

Groups Scholar Program
SUMMER RESEARCH AND EARLY START

Selected for Groups Scholar Scholarship which entailed a summer program with two required classes which were compressed from 16 weeks into 6 weeks. Classes by themselves were really intense but I took on an additional STEM program through groups, which included a poster and a summer project. The project consisted of creating a wearable for nonverbal children during Equine therapy, using a n Arduino Lilypad kit and plain cloth. It was very fun and challenging! Our end goal was to partner with PALS (People and Animal Learning Services) and test them while on actual horses, although the product did not get finished by the end of the program, unfortunately.
